What is ISOPHOT?

ISOPHOT is one of the four focal plane instruments (ISOPHOT, ISOCAM, LWS, SWS) of the European Space Agency (ESA)'s Infrared Space Observatory (ISO), which was launched on 17 November 1995. More information on the status of the mission is found on the ISO Operational News page of ESA.

ISOPHOT was designed and built by a consortium of various science institutes and industrial enterprises in Europe under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Dietrich Lemke at the Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie (MPIA), the Principal Investigator (PI). What is the ISOPHOT Centre?

The ISOPHOT Data Centre was set up to optimise the scientific return of ISOPHOT. It is one of a group of specialised data centres for ISO. (Have a look on the aerial photograph.)
