Galaxy Seminar & Journal Club

The Galaxy Seminar is a joint seminar of the MPIA, the LSW, and the ARI. It is a forum for informal talks given by members of these institutes, including students, and their guests. The seminar is intended to cover anything related to galaxies and their constituents, be it theoretical or observational. The seminars are open to everybody. For any questions and suggestions, or if you want to volunteer for a Galaxy-Seminar talk, please contact Martina Kleinheinrich.

The Journal Club provides an opportunity for people to give a brief (approx. 20min) presentation followed by a short dicussion on important recent publications from the last year (including astro-ph pre-prints), thereby allowing people to keep abreast of new and interesting results . The papers need to be of general interest and ideally do not lie in the speakers own research field. The Journal Club is open to everyone and is ideal for practice giving talks due to its very informal setting. For questions concerning the Journal Club, please contact Konrad Tristram.

The Journal Club and Galaxy Seminar are held at the same timeslot: Fridays at 11:15 in the Seminar room (306) of the MPIA, on alternating weeks.
