The Visitor Colloquium is a forum for particular scientific talks of visitors of our institute. Particular means that the speakers should be very good and must provide a broad picture of the proposed topic, rather than presenting a very specific work. We thus kindly ask the speaker to give a broad introduction and make the topic understandable by people working in both departments with different backgrounds/interests.
The Visitor Colloquium takes place on Monday afternoons at 15:15 in the lecture hall at MPIA. It should last about 45 min followed by discussion. The colloquium is open to listeners from all astronomy departments in Heidelberg.
The Colloquium is accompanied by the availability of coffee, tea and biscuits from 15:00.
If you have a visitor who would like to give a talk, please read the guidelines at the bottom of this page.(For schedule of visitor colloquia in Calendar Format see here).

Guidelines
The Visitor Colloquium is open to both departments in our institute. The speaker should thus put the topic of the talk in a broader context, providing a clear introduction, that can reach people with different scientific backgrounds. If you have a guest who would like to give the colloquium, please send us proposals including the title, a short abstract and a brief information about the speaker. Proposals should be send well in advance (at least two weeks, if there is a free slot) to the organizing committee (consisting of K. Jaeger, S. Meidt and H. Klahr) via email to viscol_org@mpia.de
All other special Guest Seminars, conveying more specific and/or informal presentations, should be organized and announced as usual by the departments themselves and can be scheduled depending on availability of rooms and in specific cases within the special seminars of the departments (PSF-Seminar, Galaxy Coffee).
Exceptions from the standard time slot of the Visitor Colloquium will only be made in rare and inevitable cases. If you have an important guest who cannot speak within the defined time slot, please contact us and propose an alternative date and time (check availability of the lecture hall).
The visitor's expenses (travel, lodging, etc.) should be covered by the budget of the group who invited the guest. The visitor's host is responsible for making arrangements for the guest's travel, accommodation, office space, computer access, etc. Please fill in an "Einladungsvorschlag" (= invitation proposal) and hand it to Ms. Apfel in administration. Please note on this form from which budget (e.g., your guest budget or project budget) the expenses for the visitor will be paid if he or she is to be reimbursed.
Thank you for your kind cooperation.
Looking forward to interesting talks,
The organizing committee
