Next year it will be 10 years that the first extra solar planet was discovered. 10 years in which we all were working on the understanding how planets form. Now we think is a good time to collect our theoretical concepts and discuss them with the observers among us. Therefore, we organize a workshop at the Ringberg Castle in Bavaria which will be held from Sun Dec. 19th until Wed. Dec 22nd 2004.

In contrast to other meetings next year we want to focus directly on the competing planet formation concepts and maintain a workshop character by digging down to the details. No more than 50 participants can be accomodated, which will give a lot of room for discussion. Detailed information on how to apply for participation will be added soon.

There will be invited reviewes by renowned speakers who are willing to prepair a manuscript BEFORE the meeting, thus it can be reviewed during the workshop. The idea is to have afterwards one concise volume that covers all our 2004 knowledge in observational, experimental and theoretical aspects of planet formation and the possible verification via observations.
