Registration is now closed. Participants will be informed about the status of their abstract submission by the end of July.
The workshop is limited to a maximum of 60 participants. All participants are expected to make an oral or poster contribution. Registration for the conference and abstract submission are made simultaneously using the online form. Abstracts will be reviewed by the SOC and accepted on the basis of scientific merit and relevance to the workshop theme.
The conference fee is 200 Euro for all participants. This covers all meals at the castle, coffee breaks, local transport and the proceedings. Immediately after registering, please download and fill out the form and fax to: +49 (0)6221 528 342 to pay. This must be also be sent by the registration deadline! If an abstract is accepted the registration fee will then be charged from the credit card. Obviously there will be no charge for those whose abstract/participation has to be turned down due to the capacity limit of 60. After your abstract has been accepted, we assume you will attend. As we incur costs for each participant even if they do not attend, we will not be able to refund your registration fee after that time (unless we can find someone to replace you).
For participants staying in the castle, the additional cost for accommodation and breakfast plus dinner on Monday evening is 260 Euro for the four nights, payable directly at the Ringberg reception upon departure. For these guests we assume that you will arrive on Monday afternoon/evening and leave on Friday (there is no reduced rate for shorter attendance). Guests staying at the hotel pay the hotel directly. The cost is 60 Euro per night for a single room or 80 Euro for a double, including breakfast. Additional costs which all participants must cover themselves include: drinks from the bar in Ringberg; transport to Ringberg/the hotel upon arrival; the workshop pub meal (free choice from the menu).
Please note that there is no reduced conference fee for partial attendance and we anyway expect that participants will remain for the whole workshop. If, for any reason, you are unable to attend for the whole conference, please indicate this on online registration form under "Further comments". In this case you will probably want to stay in the hotel (as then you only have to pay for the nights you stay).
Ringberg (the Schloessman Stiftung) will cover 60% of the accommodation and meal costs of employees (contract holders, not stipend holders) of the Max-Planck Society who stay in the castle. This will be deducted from the final bill.
If you wish to share a room or bring a non-participating guest,
it is worth noting the following
1. Ringberg Castle charges per person, not per room. If you stay in
the castle, the guest must also pay the full amount (Euro 460) and
must register.
2. If you stay in the hotel, but your guest joins you at Ringberg for
meals, then they have to register and pay the conference fee. This
is because the conference fee covers the catering costs for the
meals, and because the capacity of the dining rooms, not only the
conference hall, is also strictly limited to 60.
We realise that this is not very "guest friendly", but this is a consequence of
Ringberg otherwise keeping the costs as low as possible. (We are obviously not paying the full costs of using Ringberg!)
Upon arrival on Monday, participants must make their own way to the castle or to the hotel, for which we recommend a taxi (as Ringberg is not served by public transport). We will provide all other local transport. Specifically, a bus will bring the hotel guests to and from the castle each day, and all guests from the castle to the conference meal in town on the Wednesday evening. Depending on where people wish to go at the end of the conference (Friday after lunch), we may organize a bus to the nearby railway station in Tegernsee. Other transport to depart from Ringberg on the Friday we will organize at the workshop.
