I am a staff scientist at the Max Planck Institut für Astronomie. Professionally, I am interested in understanding more about the physics of galaxy evolution. A few questions I'm currently thinking about are: Why do some galaxies grow through star formation, while others long ago ceased to form new stars? How frequently do galaxies interact with each other? What are the effects of these interactions? I explore these questions using a variety of observational and simple modelling techniques.
The links below take you to a page about the research that I do, my current teaching, my astronomy links, the MPIA visitor's seminar, and a page about myself and my family.
