I'm a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Planet and Star Formation specialising in mining astronomical surveys (primarily the PanSTARRS survey) for low luminosity members of the local population. My main research interests are brown dwarfs, the initial stellar and substellar mass function and cool white dwarfs. In my previous postdoctoral positions I worked on Pan-STARRS data in Hawai`i and at Radboud University Nijmegen producing proper motion surveys for the IPHAS Galactic Plane survey. Before that I completed my PhD at the University of Edinburgh. As well as my research I occasionally do a bit of public understanding blogging as one of the authors on we are all in the gutter.
