Jelte de Jong's Homepage

Welcome to my homepage!

I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg, Germany, where I study stellar populations of Local Group dwarf galaxies and stellar substructures in the Milky Way. A large part of my work focuses on numerical analysis and modeling of colour-magnitude diagrams.

Before moving to the MPIA, I did my PhD at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute in Groningen, the Netherlands. For my thesis I worked on microlensing in the Andromeda galaxy (M31) as part of the MEGA collaboration.

Take a look around to find out more about me and my research.

Milky Way structure paper on the physics arXiv blog!

The paper I recently posted on arXiv, was covered on the physics arXiv blog from Technology Review! Read what they write about it here.

Galaxies & Cosmology retreat

All presentation files and "in-house business cards" from the department retreat held in Ringberg Castle in December 2007, are available from the G&C retreat website. Lots of pictures from the retreat are also available now!
