Ringberg Workshop 2008: The high-energy astrophysics of outflows from compact objects

Welcome to the web page of Christian Fendt at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany. My main research interests are magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) processes processes in the environment of young stars and compact objects, in particular, the formation of astrophysical jets.

My other interests are star formation, accretion disks, active galactic nuclei, micro-quasars, compact objects, radio emission and optical polarization.

I'm the coordinating scientist of the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Astronomy and Cosmic Physics at the University of Heidelberg. Please advertise our research school among interested Master/Diplom students. I had much fun to participate at the Open House day of the Astrophysical Institute Potsdam in 2000. I prepared a 2D scale model of the solar system visualizing the emptiness of space and the comparative smallness of the celestrial bodies. Please, check for more information (in German).
