The first EPoS conference was held at Ringberg Castle in the week 28 August - 1 September 2006.
The main objective of the meeting was to present research results
about the early phase of star formation
with substantial space for discussion
after each session and at the end of each day.
A side focus was to highlight the underlying
approximations and assumptions made in numerical and observational methods.
The conference saw lifely discussions, and revealed how much of the basic
ingredients and processes of the first phase of star formation are actually
still controversely debated.
The participant's feedback was extremly positive and and it was
considered to be a fruitful
forum for the progress in the field. Therefore, a successor meeting was
suggested in a medium time intervall of 2 years.
