EPoS 2012

The fourth EPoS conference took place at Ringberg Castle in the week 1 - 6 July 2012.

The conference had a focus on assembling pieces of the missing paradigm for the early phase of the star formation process, as usual with with substantial space for discussion after each session and at the end of each day. In the various sessions like, e.g., in the session on early disks, it became clear again how far we are from understanding the basic interplay of the various physical agents.

The focus groups had the topics Connecting the Domains: From Galactic to Extragalactic Star Formation Laws, Variable versus constant protostellar accretion. Theory and observations, The star formation rate (SFR) and efficiency (SFE) in molecular clouds (MCs), Star formation in turbulent media: role of magnetic fields, and Linking high-mass star formation to the dominating filamentary structures of molecular clouds.
