PSF Retreat 2011 - Logistics and Travel Arrangements

While in Boppard:

Yes! There will be free wireless access! We will post the WLAN password in the conference room. Remember that your colleague's research is far more interesting than facebook.

During the workshop mineral water will be provided, and there will be regular and long coffee breaks. With lunch and dinner you can order a non-alcoholic refreshment on the house, beer/wine etc. are also available but we are not allowed to pay for these - please have them charged to your room and pay your bill on wednesday. Drinks in the evening you should pay yourself (also non-alc).

Travel arrangements:

PSF Retreat

We have arranged a Bus that will carry 50 people from Heidelberg to Boppard on Monday morning and back on Wednesday afternoon. The bus will be waiting for you on the parking lot behind the crown plaza hotel from 08:15 and will leave 08:30 sharp. We will also need a few people (2-3) who will volunteer to drive with their private cars. Please contact Roy (boekel@mpia.de) if you are willing to help us out - much appreciated! The bus will leave when full, and after that we'll fill the cars.

If you cannot attend the whole workshop and wish to come later or leave earlier you should arrange your own travel (private car?) and let us know. Everyone else must make use of the organized transport.

The meeting point is a short walk from Bismarckplatz:

Please be at the meeting point at 08:15, so we can really start the trip in time. We will return on Wednesday afternoon around 15:30 and will be back in Heidelberg between ~17 and ~18 hours, depending on traffic.

You do not have to submit a travel application (*), but a collective travel application will be filed by the organizers.

(*) If you volunteer to drive (thanks!) you should fill out a travel application, or ask Roy (boekel@mpia.de) to do that for you. If you cannot attend the whole workshop and come with your own transport you should submit a travel application yourself. Ask your organizers if anything is unclear.

Information below is only relevant for volunteer drivers and people that attend only part of the workshop

( If you attend the whole workshop you needn't take note of anything below here)

Remember to fill out your travel application!

Hotel Ebertor is located directly on the banks of the Rhein river in the town of Boppard am Rhein. The easiest and shortest (156 km) route is to take the A61 north, which should take us to Boppard in ~01:45 to 2 hours:

For several reasons, MPIA cannot grant the status of 'Significant business interest in using a private vehicle' for private cars. This means that the employer will not be liable for material damages should there be any unwanted contact with other vehicles or obstacles. Should you wish to do so, you can arrange with the travel department an external insurance that covers the three days during the Retreat. This will cost 3-3.5 euros per day.
