International Max Planck Research School

The Max Planck Society and Heidelberg University collaborate in the International Max Planck Research School for Astronomy & Cosmic Physics (IMPRS-HD) at the University of Heidelberg.

IMPRS-HD allows highly-qualified students to work towards a doctoral degree in the area of astronomy or astrophysics from Heidelberg University as they pursue research for their thesis at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics or the Center for Astronomy of Heidelberg University.

IMPRS-HD offers several three-year fellowships to both international and German students. It is an independent part of the Heidelberg Graduate School of Fundamental Physics. IMPRS-HD is coordinated by MPIA's Christian Fendt.

Further information about the program, application modalities and the students of the IMPRS-HD can be found on the IMPRS-HD website. more

Further PhD Opportunities

In addition to IMPRS program, prospective students can in exceptional cases also contact potential supervisors at the institute directly. For general questions about the PhD program at the MPIA, please contact Dr. Christian Fendt .
